Bashon Mann

Strategic Advisor, Crisis Communications
Bashon Mann is a Senior Strategist at Cover and advises clients on developing effective crisis, and emergency management communications. He also conducts media training for CEOs and elected officals.

He is a retired Lt. Commander of the United States Navy, where he led a distinguished career for 22 years as a chief information and public affairs officer. Bashon’s military service includes tours of duty at the Naval Special Warfare Center’s Bureau of Navy Medicine and Surgery, where he served aboard the USNA Mercy and Comfort in response to the tsunami in Indonesia, Hurricane Katrina, and the earthquake in Haiti. He was later assigned to the Navy’s International Program Office and served in Kabul, Afghanistan.

For more than six years, Bashon was an instructor at the Defense Information School, where he taught courses on crisis communication planning and execution. He is a highly decorated Naval Officer, having received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.

Bashon is also a founding partner and principal consultant with Provision Advisors, a public relations he formed with his fellow Navy officers.

A native of Wappinger Falls, New York, Bashon is a graduate of the Navy’s Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, and the University of Memphis. He is the author of “Daddy’s Love Notes”, which he dedicates to his daughters Basil and Sabine.
