A native of Flint, Michigan, Jonathan has seen first-hand the impact undercapitalized communities can have on the slow economic growth of business communities and upward mobility of families. For more than a decade, he has advised US and international businesses and government leaders on ways to achieve their social impact and ESG investment goals.
In 2003, Jonathan formed The BTL Group to provide professional consulting and partnership services to bridge the gap between SMEs in emerging and frontier markets. Jonathan worked closely with Meridian International, the US State Department, and international development banks to facilitate in-country relationships and financing opportunities for entrepreneurs interested impact investing.
His international relationships in Israel, Malaysia, Qatar stem from his extensive travel abroad and serving on the board of directors at Global Ties US and the Advisory Council at IsraAID.
Jonathan is also the founder and CEO of Quartz Water Source, a minority business enterprise dedicated to expanding global access to clean water. In 2020, Crain’s Business Detroit recognized him as a “Top 40 Under 40” business leader.
He is a graduate of Florida A&M University and is also a best-selling author. His book, Making Dollars While Making Change, is a storytelling platform detailing his most formative experiences and a guide for entrepreneurs interested in building socially impactful businesses.
